Make-up artists to the stars give their camera ready tips beauty tips.

The Lancôme make-up artist Benjamin Rousseau, who works with A-listers for the Bafta awards every year, maintains that yellow-based foundations are most flattering because they neutralise imperfections and tiredness – both exaggerated by bright lights.

‘I start applying it around the nose and mouth, then blend out over the face.’ Powder is a must, he says, but, ‘it’s a myth that you have to apply it every five minutes – you just need a good, absorbent one.’ And highlighter – for layering over blush on cheekbones or mixing with foundation – gives tired skin a lift. Benjamin’s base heroes: Lancôme Teint Idole Silky Mat Mineral Foundation SPF 16 (£24, from March at Debenhams). ‘It lasts. In 2009 we used this foundation and it stayed impeccable for 18 hours’. Lancôme Photogenic Lumessence (£27.50, John Lewis).

‘Mix with foundation to make the wearer look like she is glowing from within.’ Lancôme Translucent Ageless Minérale Powder (£28, Selfridges). ‘Absorbs oil but doesn’t age a face with powderiness.’

Dressing your lips Don’t let age dictate your lip colour: if you wear dark shades less often now make a dressy event your chance to experiment. Kristin Scott Thomas’s make-up artist, Louise Constad, is a fan of the lip-pencil – ‘It stops lipstick from bleeding’, and brush – ‘It leaves a thinner layer on your lips that lasts longer,’ she says. Once colour is on, blot, then add gloss to the centre of lips.

Benjamin Rousseau discovered last year that Kate Winslet loves Lancôme Melon Juicy Tubes (£14, John Lewis). For lipstick, Try Guerlain Berry Rouge G de Guerlain Le Brillant (£27, Debenhams).

Love the beautiful bronze you see on Hollywood stars? Now you can get that glow just like your favorite celebs!

Dressing up in skin-baring, goddess gowns all the time requires celebrities to be vigilant about their skin appearance, both face and body.

Having bronzed limbs, like Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz, are highly desirable in Hollywood and make us look lean and healthy, as well as help mask the dreaded cellulite that can appear.

If you’re using self-tanner or visiting the spray tan booth to bronze your body, don’t forget about your face.

According to Diane Aiello, beauty expert and owner of Glam Lounge, bronzer is a terrific way to blend the face in with your overall tan bod, highlight cheekbones and even blend streaks that appear in other areas.

But how do we choose and apply the right bronzer for our skin tone?

Aiello says since tanning and/or prolonged sun exposure is the leading cause of skin aging, many women are tanning their bodies, but not their faces.

To even out skin tone and blend your face with your overall body color, powder bronzer works wonders and is a fast, convenient way to add color. And remember, the ONLY safe tan is a self-tan!

How to choose and apply the right bronzer for your skin tone:

1. Choose a shade that is 1-2 shades darker, not 4-5 shades darker than your natural skin tone.

Darker shades give a muddy or often orange appearance.

2. Avoid using bronzer as blush which makes the face look dull and without dimension.

Instead add a touch of pink or peach blush to liven up the face and give a healthy, fresh look.

3. Use a big fluffy brush to apply your bronzer, always tapping off excess product before application to avoid streaking and blotchiness.

4. Sweep color back and forth across the forehead and cheeks, then finish along the nose and chin.

If the desired color is not achieved, repeat one more time.

5. To match a pale neck, sweep color back and forth along with jaw line, then with light strokes sweep up and down in a back and forth motion on the neck.

Always blend with a sponge to ensure there are no lines of demarcation.

Glam Lounge carries a wide variety of bronzer shades to match every skin tone, their makeup artists can find the perfect shade for you.
